Sustainability At Oni Threads The Transparent Journey
Documenting our path toward a zero-waste warrior lifestyle.
Documenting our path toward a zero-waste warrior lifestyle.
In the spirit of Bushido (the way of the warrior), we believe in honesty above all else.
We are not a perfect sustainable brand. Not yet.
We are a young business in Phase 1 of a deeply ambitious journey. We are choosing to share that journey: the wins, the limitations, and the roadmap, because true trust is built on transparency, not greenwashing.
Here is exactly where we stand today, and where we are going.
Planet
1.The "Zero-Inventory" Model
The Problem: The fashion industry buries millions of tons of unsold clothing in landfills every year.
Our Solution: We produce nothing until you order it.
Oni Threads operates on a Print-on-Demand (POD) model. This means we hold zero inventory. When you purchase a hoodie or a tee, it is cut and sewn specifically for you.
No overproduction. No warehouse dumping.
We only use the energy required for active orders.
People & Planet
We cannot do this alone. We have strategically partnered with providers who share our values while we build our independent infrastructure.
Current Partner
We utilize vetted on-demand providers for our initial collections.
Ethical Labor
Our partners are selected based on their commitment to fair labor practices. We are an Arkansas-based company, and we prioritize partners who respect the dignity of the worker, from the cotton field to the sewing floor.
Material Sourcing
We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.
Mindful Consumption
3. Cost-Per-Wear Economics
Sustainability isn't just about how a garment is made; it's about how long it lasts.
Fast fashion is designed to fall apart after 7 washes. That is economic and environmental violence.
The Goal: We encourage you to buy less, but buy better.
Oni Threads Standard
Durability: Our gear is "Armor for the Everyday." It is engineered to withstand the rigors of a modern warrior's life.
Based on $60 hoodie lasting 3 years
Fast Fashion
Designed for obsolescence. Superficial trends without substance.
Based on $20 hoodie lasting 3 months
The Promise
4. Our Roadmap: The "Pratfall"
We want to be clear about where we have room to grow. This is our accountability board.
The following table outlines our sustainability roadmap:
| Focus Area | Current Status (Phase 1) | The Goal (Phase 2 & 3) |
|---|---|---|
| Materials | High-quality blends for durability. Limited certified organic options via current POD. | Transition to Create. One verified sustainable fabrics (Recycled Poly, Organic Cotton) as volume increases. |
| Packaging | Standard poly-mailers provided by shipping partners. | Transition to 100% compostable or post-consumer recycled packaging by 2027. |
| Circular Economy | No formal recycling program. | Launch the Bushi Collective Upcycle Program, rewarding members for repairing or repurposing old gear. |
Sustainability
We create on-demand to eliminate waste. Every Oni Threads piece is made when you order it—no excess inventory, no landfill. Premium materials, intentional production.

5. Community Verification
We don't ask you to take our word for it.
The Bushi Collective, our community of customers—acts as our accountability board. We have plans to publish Quarterly Progress Updates sharing our sourcing partnerships, sustainability milestones, and the challenges we're working to overcome.
If we miss a target, you will hear it from us first.
We are building the sustainable streetwear revolution from Arkansas. Watch us grow, hold us accountable, and walk the path with us.
